What a busy and exciting week we had! Our classroom was full of learning, exploring, and fun as the children continued building relationships with their teachers and friends.
This week, we focused on emotions and friendship. The children learned about different emotions and how to use our Calm Center/Safe Place when they need time and space to regulate their feelings. We talked about how our classroom is a safe place and that teachers are always available to help, comfort, and support them through all the different emotions they may experience at school.
We read The Color Monster and The Color Monster Goes to School. These stories helped us identify and talk about different feelings. The children also strengthened their fine motor skills by sorting colorful pom-poms and matching them to different emotions.
Math was all about exploring! The children were introduced to different mathematical tools, including connecting cubes, pattern blocks, two-sided counters, and five-frames. They explored how these materials can be used for counting, building, creating patterns, and solving problems. At the Math Center, the children counted objects, created patterns, built with colorful blocks, and worked on puzzles.
Writing is beginning, too! The children practiced making scribbles, lines, and shapes as we build the foundational skills needed for writing. We are also working on developing a three-point pencil grasp and maintaining the grasp while completing activities.
At the Literacy Center, the children matched letters and practiced building and spelling their names.
At the Art Center, the children learned to use a small amount of glue and created wonderful self-portraits. These activities encouraged creativity while strengthening fine motor skills.
At the Science Center, we explored primary and secondary colors. First, the children mixed paint to discover what happens when two primary colors are combined. Then, they experimented with colored water to create new colors. There was lots of excitement as they made their own discoveries!
And we can't forget PE! The children had their first PE class and had so much fun playing Duck, Duck, Goose with their friends.
It was a wonderful week filled with big feelings, new friendships, hands-on learning, exploration, and lots of fun! ❤️

¡Qué semana tan ocupada y emocionante tuvimos! Nuestro salón estuvo lleno de aprendizaje, exploración y diversión mientras los niños continúan formando relaciones con sus maestros y nuevos amigos.
Esta semana nos enfocamos en las emociones y la amistad. Los niños aprendieron sobre diferentes emociones y cómo utilizar nuestro Centro de la Calma/Espacio Seguro cuando necesitan tiempo y espacio para regular sus emociones. Conversamos sobre cómo nuestro salón es un lugar seguro y que los maestros siempre están disponibles para ayudarlos, consolarlos y apoyarlos con las diferentes emociones que puedan experimentar durante el día escolar.
Leímos El monstruo de colores y El monstruo de colores va al colegio. Estas historias nos ayudaron a identificar y conversar sobre diferentes emociones. Los niños también fortalecieron sus habilidades de motricidad fina clasificando pompones de diferentes colores y relacionándolos con distintas emociones.
¡En matemáticas nos dedicamos a explorar! Los niños conocieron diferentes materiales matemáticos, incluyendo cubos conectables, bloques de patrones, fichas de dos colores y marcos de cinco. Exploraron cómo utilizar estos materiales para contar, construir, crear patrones y resolver problemas. En el Centro de Matemáticas, los niños contaron objetos, crearon patrones, construyeron con bloques de colores y armaron rompecabezas.
¡También estamos comenzando a escribir! Los niños practicaron haciendo garabatos, líneas y formas mientras desarrollamos las habilidades fundamentales necesarias para la escritura. También estamos trabajando en desarrollar un agarre de tres puntos para sostener el lápiz y mantenerlo mientras completan diferentes actividades.
En el Centro de Lectoescritura, los niños relacionaron letras y practicaron formando y deletreando sus nombres.
En el Centro de Arte, los niños practicaron cómo utilizar una pequeña cantidad de pegamento y crearon maravillosos autorretratos. Estas actividades fomentaron la creatividad mientras fortalecían sus habilidades de motricidad fina.
En el Centro de Ciencias, exploramos los colores primarios y secundarios. Primero, los niños mezclaron pinturas para descubrir qué sucede cuando combinamos dos colores primarios. Después, experimentaron con agua de colores para crear nuevos colores. ¡Hubo mucha emoción mientras hacían sus propios descubrimientos!
¡Y no podemos olvidarnos de Educación Física! Los niños tuvieron su primera clase de educación física y se divirtieron muchísimo jugando Pato, Pato, Ganso con sus amigos.
¡Fue una semana maravillosa llena de grandes emociones, nuevas amistades, aprendizaje práctico, exploración y mucha diversión! ❤️
