We continued learning how to identify emotions in others and understand the importance of friendship. The children interviewed their best friends and drew pictures to represent their friends’ answers. They are also beginning to write by listening for and recognizing sounds in words.

The children continued strengthening their fine motor skills by using shapes to create pictures and using scissors to cut along different types of lines. These activities help develop hand strength, coordination, and control needed for writing.

During science, the children used blocks to build ramps and explored which objects roll and do not roll. They used drawings to record their observations and findings. We will continue learning about ramps, motion, and force through hands-on experiments and exploration.

During math activities, the children practiced recognizing small groups of objects without counting. They also worked on the concept of one-to-one correspondence by matching one object to one person or image. We explored questions such as, “Are there enough?” and “Can you get enough?” These questions encourage children to use mathematical thinking to solve everyday problems and understand quantities.

During literacy activities, the children worked on rhyming words, producing letter sounds, blending syllables, identifying beginning and ending sounds, and counting words in phrases.

The children also drew pictures and began writing about their drawings by using letters to represent the sounds they hear in words. We are encouraging invented spelling, which gives children opportunities to listen carefully to sounds, connect sounds with letters, and build confidence as beginning writers.

It was another week full of learning, exploring, friendship, and fun!

Continuamos aprendiendo a identificar las emociones en los demás y a comprender la importancia de la amistad. Los niños entrevistaron a sus mejores amigos y realizaron dibujos para representar sus respuestas. También están comenzando a escribir al escuchar y reconocer los sonidos en las palabras.

Los niños continuaron fortaleciendo sus habilidades de motricidad fina utilizando figuras para crear dibujos y tijeras para recortar diferentes tipos de líneas. Estas actividades ayudan a desarrollar la fuerza de las manos, la coordinación y el control necesarios para la escritura.

Durante ciencias, los niños utilizaron bloques para construir rampas y exploraron qué objetos ruedan y cuáles no ruedan. Utilizaron dibujos para registrar sus observaciones y descubrimientos. Continuaremos aprendiendo sobre rampas, movimiento y fuerza a través de experimentos y exploraciones prácticas.

Durante las actividades de matemáticas, los niños practicaron reconocer pequeños grupos de objetos sin contar. También trabajaron el concepto de correspondencia uno a uno, relacionando un objeto con una persona o imagen. Exploramos preguntas como “¿Hay suficientes?” y “¿Puedes conseguir suficientes?” Estas preguntas ayudan a los niños a utilizar el pensamiento matemático para resolver situaciones cotidianas y desarrollar su comprensión de las cantidades.

Durante las actividades de lectoescritura, los niños trabajaron con palabras que riman, producción de sonidos de las letras, combinación de sílabas, identificación de sonidos iniciales y finales, y conteo de palabras en frases. Los niños también hicieron dibujos y comenzaron a escribir sobre ellos utilizando letras para representar los sonidos que escuchan en las palabras. Estamos fomentando la escritura inventada, que les brinda oportunidades para escuchar cuidadosamente los sonidos, relacionarlos con las letras y desarrollar confianza como escritores principiantes.

We had another busy and exciting week of learning! This week, we continued learning about emotions and how to make friends and maintain friendships. We discussed the importance of using kind words when playing, sharing materials, and taking turns. We read The Adventures of Gary & Harry, and the children drew pictures of things they enjoy doing with their friends. We used their wonderful drawings and words to create our first classroom book! 

The children experimented with a Growing Rainbow activity. They observed how the seven colors mixed together, how the water traveled from one cup to another, and how the colors changed along the way. The children made observations and talked about what they noticed during the experiment.

We also explored balance and weight. The children experimented with different objects, compared their weights, and discovered how objects can balance.

The children continued engaging in a variety of math activities using different math tools. This week, we practiced recognizing small groups of objects up to 4. The children communicated “how many” by showing quantities on their fingers and saying number words. Although some children may count to determine how many objects are in a group, our focus is on beginning to recognize small quantities without counting.

The children also continued exploring and learning with connecting cubes, geoblocks, and pattern blocks through hands-on activities.

The children are working on drawing shapes and combining different shapes to create pictures. Practicing shapes helps strengthen the fine motor skills needed for future writing activities.
We also practiced tearing paper to create our own Color Monsters. This fun activity gave the children another opportunity to strengthen their hand and finger muscles while connecting art with our study of emotions. 

During literacy activities, the children practiced rhyming words, recognizing beginning and ending sounds, blending words, and adding or deleting parts of words. These playful sound activities help build important early reading and phonological awareness skills.

At the sensory table, the children practiced creating different emotions and facial expressions. We talked about how faces can give us clues about how someone may be feeling. The children are learning to recognize emotions in others and think about how they can respond to their friends.

It is wonderful to see the children becoming more comfortable with their new routines. They are beginning to create new friendships and build meaningful bonds with their peers and teachers. These relationships help create a safe, welcoming classroom community where everyone can learn, play, and grow together. 

We are so proud of all the learning, exploring, and friendship-building happening in our classroom!

¡Tuvimos otra semana llena de aprendizaje y experiencias emocionantes! Esta semana continuamos aprendiendo sobre las emociones y sobre cómo hacer amigos y mantener nuestras amistades. Conversamos sobre la importancia de usar palabras amables cuando jugamos, compartimos materiales y esperamos nuestro turno. Leímos The Adventures of Gary & Harry, y los niños hicieron dibujos de las cosas que disfrutan hacer con sus amigos. ¡Usamos sus maravillosos dibujos y palabras para crear nuestro primer libro de la clase! 

Los niños experimentaron con la actividad “Arcoíris creciente” (Growing Rainbow). Observaron cómo se mezclaban los siete colores, cómo el agua se movía de un vaso a otro y cómo los colores cambiaban durante el experimento. Los niños hicieron observaciones y compartieron lo que notaron.

También exploramos los conceptos de equilibrio y peso. Los niños experimentaron con diferentes objetos, compararon sus pesos y descubrieron cómo se pueden equilibrar los objetos.

Los niños continuaron participando en diferentes actividades de matemáticas utilizando diversas herramientas matemáticas. Esta semana practicamos reconocer pequeños grupos de objetos hasta 4. Los niños comunicaron “cuántos hay” mostrando cantidades con sus dedos y diciendo los números. Aunque algunos niños pueden contar para determinar cuántos objetos hay, nuestro enfoque es comenzar a reconocer pequeñas cantidades sin necesidad de contar.
Los niños también continuaron explorando y aprendiendo con cubos conectables, geobloques y bloques de patrones a través de actividades prácticas.

Los niños están trabajando en dibujar figuras geométricas y combinar diferentes figuras para crear dibujos. Practicar estas figuras ayuda a fortalecer las habilidades de motricidad fina necesarias para futuras actividades de escritura.

También practicamos rasgar papel para crear nuestros propios Monstruos de Colores. Esta divertida actividad les dio a los niños otra oportunidad para fortalecer los músculos de sus manos y dedos mientras conectaban el arte con nuestro aprendizaje sobre las emociones. 

Durante nuestras actividades de lectoescritura, los niños practicaron palabras que riman, reconocer sonidos iniciales y finales, combinar sonidos para formar palabras y agregar o eliminar partes de las palabras. Estas actividades ayudan a desarrollar importantes habilidades de conciencia fonológica necesarias para aprender a leer.

En la mesa sensorial, los niños practicaron creando diferentes emociones y expresiones faciales. Conversamos sobre cómo las expresiones de la cara pueden darnos pistas sobre cómo se siente una persona. Los niños están aprendiendo a reconocer las emociones de los demás y a pensar en cómo pueden responder y apoyar a sus amigos.

Es maravilloso ver cómo los niños se sienten cada vez más cómodos con sus nuevas rutinas. Están comenzando a formar nuevas amistades y a crear vínculos significativos con sus compañeros y maestros. Estas relaciones nos ayudan a crear una comunidad segura y acogedora donde todos pueden aprender, jugar y crecer juntos. 

¡Estamos muy orgullosos de todo el aprendizaje, la exploración y las nuevas amistades que están creciendo en nuestro salón de clases!
